Outer Banks Beach Nourishment

South Nags Head Beach Nourishment Construction

Nags Head’s first ever large scale beach nourishment project occurred from June 12, 2011 and was completed on October 27, 2011. Nearly 4.6 million cubic yards of sand, was placed on 10 miles of Nags Head’s beach from Bonnett Street at Mile Post 11 south to the town line at Mile Post 21.

The project was critical to Nags Head's future and we thank you for your support and patience during that time. Visit the Town of Nags Head website for detailed information on beach nourishment.

Please note: The project has advanced the shoreline in this area anywhere from 50-125 feet, depending on the erosion rate of the particular area being nourished.
