At age eleven, during my first visit to the Outer Banks, I was totally captivated by the area's wild natural beauty. There wasn't a whole lot here in 1961; no traffic lights, no chain stores, no fourteen bedroom houses, but I do remember that except for the constant rustling of the wind, it was a very quiet place. I did observe however, great expanses of sand, sky, and sea, and that's the part that I liked the best. From that moment on I was hooked. I thought to myself "wow, this place is magical; this would really be a neat place to live".

Well .... turn the page, and twenty years later, I was now thirty one years old and living in Baltimore Md., married with two small children. We had moved to the area several years earlier from our hometown in Norfolk, Va. I had taken a new job with an international music distributor, where I was employed as their mid-Atlantic representative for the recorded music division. It was during this time period when we lived in Baltimore that we started to visit the Outer Banks with our young family.

After enjoying several memorable family vacations on the Outer Banks and many, many nights of discussion about how much we loved the area, my wife Sharon and I decided that it was time for a change; in fact, it was time for an adventure. Thus began our journey of moving to the beach and the start of my new career in resort real estate.

Now fast forward to the year 2016. I have now been assisting Outer Banks buyers and sellers for over thirty years. During this period I have earned the business and the respect of hundreds of clients and have made many, many friends along the way. I really enjoy what I do for a living and I get tremendous satisfaction helping people realize their Outer Banks real estate dreams.

I first became associated with Resort Realty in September 1990. From the first time that I met David Perrot; one of the principle owners of the company, I knew that I had found a home. The combination of a small but progressive company, locally owned, that placed heavy emphasis on exceptional customer service and future growth was exactly what I was looking for. The company and I have come a long way together over the years. Today, Resort Realty now has five Outer Banks locations from Corolla to Hatteras Island offering exceptional service for real estate sales and family vacation rentals. My office is located on the sound front in the Village of Duck. In case you are not aware, the best views on the Outer Banks are to the west overlooking the sound; offering some of the most beautiful sunsets on Earth.

My longevity in the real estate business is no testimony to my overall success or ability. After all, her Great-Great Grandfather, Captain ER Outlaw, built one of the first oceanfront cottages on the Outer Banks in 1886! A couple were built in the early 1900's, and two were of the original 13 cottages built well over a century ago. I was born and raised in a small town in northwestern Virginia. While still engaged in my primary profession of computer technology and communications, I assisted my husband, Tucker, who is a licensed building contractor, in purchasing land and selling houses. We loved being at the Outer Banks, so after many years of vacationing here from Avon to Corolla, we bought a second home in Kill Devil Hills. Even though it was a six hour drive from our house in Winchester, we made the trip at least once a month just to be here. In 2002 I moved here full-time in order to study for my real estate license exam and train for a triathlon to benefit the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society. Tucker joined me here shortly after that time and began building our new house in Nags Head, which we moved into immediately after selling our house in Kill Devil Hills. I joined Resort Realty in February 2003 after receiving my NC real estate sales and Brokers license and quickly became eCertified. Working in real estate has been a thoroughly pleasant change from my prior technology career, getting to meet and work with a very diverse group of people from many different geographical locations. How does one go from the frozen Siberian steppes to the sandy shores of the Outer Banks? For starters North Carolina is much warmer (and easier to pronounce) than Mezhdurechensk, Russia, the town where I was born and raised. I dedicated much of my young life there to educational pursuits. I followed a Bachelor’s in Engineering with a Master’s degree in Business and Economics as well as earning another post-graduate degree in Accounting.
