The tradition continued last Saturday as Coastal Catina and Currituck-Dare Community Foundation hosted its Annual Duck & Wine Festival in Duck, NC. After a week of rain showers and cool temperatures, the sun finally showed up just in time for the event. Guests strolled around the Waterfront shops in Duck and sampled unique duck dishes from participating restaurants. Each booth provided a red and white wine that complimented their duck themed dish.

Guests were able to enjoy the sound front view and vote on their favorite duck recipe. This year’s People Choice Award went to a new group in town, The Crafty Cow. Their delicious duck sliders won over the crowd and helped spread the word of their new restaurant opening this summer in Corolla. 5 local judges awarded The Blue Point restaurant with Best Dish. Their flavorful smoked duck ham served over baby watercress, blue cheese, citrus vinaigrette and candied pecans won over the judges.

The festival concluded with a special thanks to Maple Leaf Farms for donated the ducks for the event and to several local sponsors including Resort Realty. Proceeds from the festival will help support the Currituck-Dare Community Foundation that provides funding and grants for worthy local causes. The perfect weather, exceptional local cuisine and wine pairings made for a fantastic event.
