The OBC: July 2018 Events -

Summer is officially in full swing on the Outer Banks! With the warm weather here and the busy season upon us, there are so many events happening on the OBX. From Corolla to Hatteras Island, check out everything happening on the Outer Banks this July!

July 4 // Firework Shows

Various times in various towns

Up and down the OBX, there are amazing firework showcases to celebrate the 4th of July! Whether you’re staying in Corolla or on the southern beaches, see where you can spot the best firework show!

July 5 // Island Art Show

10 AM – 4 PM @ Rodanthe-Waves- Salvo Community Center | Rodanthe

Support local artists at the Island Art Show! This event is free to everyone in order to save your money for some of the awesome art that is available for purchase. From paintings, pottery, jewelry, and more, the Island Art Show is an event you don’t want to miss.

July 12 // Dowdy Farmers Market

9 AM – 4 PM @ Dowdy Park | Nags Head

Local produce, art, baked goods, and music are all at the Dowdy Farmers Market! This event is free to everyone so come take a look around and support the locals!

July 14 – 15 // Wright Kite Festival

10 AM – 4 PM @ Wright Brothers National Memorial | Kill Devil Hills

Fly kites where flight first began! 30-100 foot kites will be flying high and you can even fly a stunt or power kite! Admission to the park is $10 but this event is totally free so learn more about the Wright Brothers and fly a few kites of your own during the weekend event.

July 14 // Shark Awareness Day

10 AM – 1 PM @ The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island | Manteo

Learn more about sharks, the role they play in the ocean, and more at this educational and fun event! Play games and watch shark documentaries! This event is free with general admission to the aquarium.

July 20 // Pickin’ On The Porch

7 PM – 8:30 PM | 107 Budleigh Street, Manteo

Come out and listen to some of the best bluegrass music on the Outer Banks! This free event is featuring live music from Dixie Jubilee, a family band based out of Woodstock, Georgia. This event is free to the public so just bring a chair and take part in the fun, family friendly OBX event!

July 25 // Light Up The Night

8:30 PM @ Waves Village Watersports Resort | Waves

Enjoy an evening on the sound with Kitty Hawk Kites! Experience free kayak and paddle board demos, play light up games, and enjoy a movies on the large inflatable movie screen! This event is free to the public, all you need to bring is a blanket for the movie!

July 28 // Surfrider Paddle Race

The 25th Annual Surfrider Paddle Race is on! Hosted by Surfrider Foundation Outer Banks, this paddle race will include shortboard, longboard, and paddle board divisions for men, women, and kids! Registration begins at 9 AM and race time starts at 10. All proceeds benefit the public education and scholarship fund! For more information, visit the Surfrider OBX Chapter site here.
