17th Annual Festival of Trees
Thursday, December 3, 2015 – Saturday, December 5, 2015
This 3-day event to raise money for Outer Banks Hotline includes a visit with Santa, children’s activities, and an auction of decorated Christmas trees at the Outer Banks Brewing Station.

Holiday Promenade in Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo
Friday, December 11, 2015
The Friday Promenade on the sidewalk in Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo, takes place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Along the sidewalk, villagers & businesses will be serving hot drinks & other goodies. Walk, jog, ride a bike, skate the sidewalk. Bring flashlights and/or wear lights to light the way.

Free Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Winter Climb
Saturday, December 12, 2015
Join us for a FREE winter climb of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 10 am to 2 pm.  Children must be at least 42″ tall to climb the lighthouse. Children under 12 must be escorted by a person at least 16 years old.

Hatteras Village Christmas Parade
Saturday, December 12, 2015
The parade begins at Teach’s Lair Marina and continues up Highway 12 to the Hatterasman Drive-In. Locals and tourists park along the route and get out to cheer on the floats, fire trucks, bike, horses, motorcycles, emergency and Coast Guard vehicles, bands, and, of course, Santa Claus. Please join us immediately following for cookies and cocoa at the Hatteras Village Community Building for the announcement of winners.

Christmas Past at Island Farm

St. Nicholas arrives by an ox-drawn wagon, giving wagon rides around the farm’s trails from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Warm yourself by a crackling fire in farmhouse and help decorate the family Christmas tree. Enjoy a reading of the poem “A Visit From St. Nicholas” at 2 p.m. Visit with the farm’s animals, make your own bee’s wax candle to take home, and sample 19th-century foods prepared over a fire in the farm’s cookhouse.

Lights, floral delights, holiday sights and other events are part of a month-long spectacle called WinterLights at The Elizabethan Gardens held December 2-5, 9-12, 16-19, 23, 26,30 (Tuesdays thru Saturdays) January 2,8,9,15,16,22,23 (Fridays and Saturdays) from 6pm-9pm. (Closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and January 1.) Please Note: This event is out of doors and subject to cancellation due to weather Non-Members: Adults $15, Youth (ages 6-17) $9, Youth (5 and under) $7

Poulos Family Christmas Lights

6:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Get into the holiday spirit with the family and stop by the Poulos family’s famous Christmas light display in Kill Devil Hills. Featured on the Today Show and HGTV, this family’s decorations are like you’ve never seen before.  Admission is free but donations are welcomed.

112th Annual Celebration of the Wright Brothers First Flight
Thursday, December 17, 2015
8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Celebrate this historical milestone at the Wright Brother’s Memorial. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 AM  – 11:00 AM with music, presentations, and a military flyover. The annual luncheon and FFS awards ceremony will follow at the Hilton Garden Inn from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM. For tickets to the luncheon, please email admin@firstflight.org.

Outer Banks Festivus Road Race: 5K/10K, Jingle Jog 1 Mile, and the Little Elf 1/4 Mile

7:30 AM – 10:00 AM
Enjoy the holiday season with a fast and fun race through Southern Shores. A photo op with Santa, post race breakfast, t-shirt, and gift bags will be given out to each participant. 5K/10K Pricing – $38.50 for adults, $35 for teens 13-17, $30 for 12 & under. Jingle Jog 1 Mile Pricing – $30 for adults, $28 for teens 17 and under, $25 for ages 9 and under. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit local children’s charities throughout the Outer Banks.

Winterlights Dinner with Santa
Saturday, December 19th
Dinner Times at 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM
