West Lane of Wright Memorial Bridge on the Outer Banks Reopens

Outer Banks, NC-The Wright Memorial Bridge, which connects the mainland to the Outer Banks, will be back to regular patterns by the days end.

Since September 16, 2013 the west-bound lane has been closed while the NCDOT repaired the bridge. Repairs included replacing the top portion of the existing concrete on the bridge deck with a layer of latex-modified concrete that will smooth out humps in each span of the bridge and provide a better riding surface. To-date, crews were able to complete work on two-thirds of the bridge.
