Cape Hatteras National Seashore

The narrow barrier islands of Cape Hatteras National Seashore are in a constant state of change. Tides, waves and currents provide daily, sometimes subtle changes, while storms can provoke more sudden changes to the islands.

Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station

Located in Rodanthe, NC on Hatteras Island, this museum pays homage to the U.S. Life Saving Service, now known as the United States Coast Guard. As the nation’s largest and most complete example of a historical life-saving station, visitors flock here to learn about the lives of the members of the U.S. Life Saving Service, the heroic feats of the service members and to learn from current U.S. Coast Guardmen.

Fort Raleigh National Historic Site

Fort Raleigh National Historic Site protects and preserves known portions of England's first New World settlements from 1584 to 1590. This site also preserves the cultural heritage of the Native Americans, European Americans and African Americans who have lived on Roanoke Island.

Frisco Native American Museum & Natural History Center

Located in Frisco, NC on beautiful Hatteras Island, The Frisco Native American Museum pays homage to the first inhibitants of Hatteras Island as well as the history and culture of the Native American community. Visitors can see artifacts, tour the museum, walk through the scenic nature trail and more.

Graveyard Of The Atlantic Museum

Located in Hatteras, NC, the museum is full of maritime heritage and the history of shipwrecks of the North Carolina Outer Banks. Visitors can tour the museum, view displays, replicas, items from shipwrecks and more.

Outer Banks Distilling

Located in historic downtown Manteo, Outer Banks Distilling is the first and only distrillery on the Outer Banks. Visit their storefront for Kill Devil Rum tastings and tours. Tours are available Tuesday – Saturday at 1 pm & 3 pm. Tours are $5 for guests 21 and older. Store hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10 am – 5 pm. Call 252-423-3011 to reserve your tour time.

Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge

The 6,000-acre refuge is a haven for more than 360 species of birds. From spring to autumn, a large variety of wading, shore and upland birds can be seen. The observation platforms are near parking areas. Pea Island is located between Oregon Inlet and Rodanthe. Refuge Visitor's Center is located five miles south of the inlet

Roanoke Island Festival Park

Outer Banks history comes to life at Roanoke Island Festival Park. Located across from the Manteo waterfront, the park features settlement sites which depict life in the 16th Century. Visit the Elizabeth II, a full-size reproduction of a 16th century sailing ship. Year-round museum hosts numerous exhibits, performing arts series and artwork.
