The town of Waves is about a third of what looks like one big town in the Tri-Villages. On one side of the town is the crystal blue ocean, and on the other are the waters of the “Pamlico” Sound. It is named for the Atlantic Ocean’s influence on the tiny community. The village is dotted by gorgeous cottages, but the influence of history is still apparent to anyone who visits. Waves is an area where you can find a stretch of beach all to yourself even in peak tourist season.
