8 Festive Recipes to Celebrate #NationalMargaritaDay

These tasty cocktails or mocktails are perfect for your next Outer Banks vacation too, so make sure you save them somewhere to pull out this summer! Not that you need another excuse to try out these fun recipes, but it hey, is National Margarita Day!

The Classic

You can never go wrong with a classic lime margarita. Refreshing and tangy, this recipe from The Cookful is so easy.

Directions:

1 // Rim a high ball glass with kosher salt

2 // Put 2 handfuls of ice cubes into a cocktail shaker + add remaining ingredients.

3 // Shake for a about 10-15 seconds

4 // Fill high ball glass half full of ice cubes + pour contents of shaker over top.R


The Raspberry Coconut

The raspberry coconut margarita is perfect for celebrating National Margarita Day (or any day really!) Perfect for hot summer days or the days you’re just daydreaming about summer, try this fun and tropical recipe from Marla Meridith.

Directions

1 //Bring the raspberries and water to a boil in a saucepan. Turn off the heat, mash the berries against the side of the pot. Place a fine mesh sieve over a bowl, pour the berries into the sieve. Let liquid pour through, mashing the berries into the sieve to get all the liquid out. Discard or eat the pulpy bits.

//Whisk in the coconut, agave and lime. Let the mixture cool.

3 //Rim the glasses with pink sprinkles: Run a lime wedge around the rim of a 8 ounce glass. Dip the rim of the glass in a bowl of sprinkles. Fill the glasses 1/2 way with ice.

4 //Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in 4 ounces of the raspberry juice, tequila and triple sec. Shake well. Pour into the glasses. Serve with a wedge of lime. Yields 2 cups of raspberry, coconut juice. Enough for 8 margaritas.

We’re feeling pretty peachy over this fun recipe from Living Loving Paleo! This recipe is defintiely on the healthier side using ingredients like fresh peaches and sparkling water. Who doesn’t love a guilt free cocktail?

Directions

  1. If desired, salt the rim of your glass
  2. Place the peaches, tequila, lime juice and honey in a blender. Blend until completely smooth. Pour over ice into a glass and add the sparkling water. Stir to combine. Enjoy!

The Sangria

Wine and margaritas; the best of both worlds! This fun and fruity recipe from The Inspired Home is perfect for celebrating National Margarita Day or to bring with you for an Outer Banks beach day! For a non-alcoholic treat, substitute the sparkling water and Sauvignon Blanc for a bottle and a half of sparkling grape juice.

Directions

  1. To a large pitcher, add the orange slices, strawberries, lime slices and agave nectar. Add the wine, tequila, pineapple juice, lime juice and sparkling water.
  2. Refrigerate the sangria for at least 2 hours, serve over ice with basil for garnish.

The Mango

This frozen mango margarita recipe from The Lemon Bowl is sure to do one of two things; 1 – cool you off on a hot Outer Banks summer day, or 2 – get you ready for summer! Either way, this recipe is a must try!

Directions

1 // Dip the rim of each glass in water or rub a lime wedge around the edge to moisten. Pour chili lime salt into a small plate and dip each glass to line rim; set aside.

2 // Place all remaining ingredients in a high speed blender and puree until smooth.

3 // Divide margaritas between glasses and serve with extra lime wedges if you wish.


The Prosecco

Who doesn’t love a traditional margarita with a twist? This Prosecco margarita recipe from A Farm Girls Dabbles is perfect for entertaining!

Directions

1 // In a small to medium-sized jar or bowl, add the tequila, Cointreau, simple syrup, and fresh lime juice. Prepare this mixture at least a couple hours prior to serving the margaritas, and place in refrigerator to chill.

2 // Run the cut edge of a lime wedge around the rim of a glass and dip the rim into a small plate of coarse salt. Repeat with remaining glasses.

3 // Add ice to prepared glasses and divide the tequila mixture amongst the glasses. Top with Prosecco, dividing evenly amongst the glasses. Give a little stir to combine, and then taste test. Squeeze a lime wedge over the top and add another one to the rim of the glass.

Directions

1 // Pour the lime juice, pineapple juice, tequila, and sparkling water into a tall pitcher and stir well to combine.
