The opening event of the NC Billfish Series is the Hatteras Village Offshore Open. Proceeds from the Hatteras Village Offshore Open support the Hatteras Village Civic Association in their mission to provide college scholarships to village residents as well as to support charitable causes within the community. Experience the world class fishing and local hospitality in Hatteras Village all while supporting a great cause.

Cash prizes & plaques/trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in Level I and Level II which are billfish levels. Cash prizes for 1st & 2nd place in Level III for the largest tuna, dolphin & wahoo, as well as a plaque/trophy for 1st place. Level IV is winner take all and a plaque/trophy for the largest blue marlin landed as specified in the rules. Cash prizes for the largest tuna, dolphin & wahoo weighed in daily in Level V. Cash prizes for the greatest number of daily billfish release points in Level VI. Cash prizes & plaques/trophies for 1st and 2nd in Level VII. The Hatteras Village Civic Association will retain 15% of the entry fees.

The Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot race loop begins at Scarborough Lane and makes a scenic turn through stunning wooded neighborhoods and scenic corners of the charming town of Duck before it ends at the finish line, where the event caps off with a post-race party. Everyone who signs up for the race will receive a goodie bag of Thanksgiving treats – which includes a commemorative tee to mark the occasion – and prizes are given to the top male and female finishers in adult and youth (age 10 and under) categories. Run, walk or “trot” before diving into your Thanksgiving feast.

The Town of Duck brings jazz to the Duck Town Park annually in early October. This event is non-ticketed and free to the public. Food and drinks are available to purchase from town eateries and chairs are available for rent. Attendees may also bring food, coolers, chairs, blankets, and well-behaved dogs. No beach umbrellas or tents are permitted at the event. The Duck Jazz Festival is held rain or shine.

Kites with Lights, hosted by Kitty Hawk Kites, is a magical holiday tradition held at Jockey’s Ridge State Park in Nags Head, NC. Admission is FREE for everyone, so gather your friends and family for a day of fun! A wide selection of local and regional beers, along with delicious food, will be available for purchase throughout the day. The Outer Banks Brewtag also benefits The Rogallo Foundation, which was created to honor the legacy of Francis and Gertrude Rogallo, the inventors of the flexible wing. The foundation works to preserve their priceless records, artifacts, and research, while also supporting education and research in aerodynamics, gliding, and soaring flight. Parking is available for the public at The Soundside Event Site, Outer Banks Outlet Mall, and Nags Head Elementary. Shuttle service will run to and from the event site from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM, making it easy to attend the event and enjoy the day without worrying about parking.
