Kitty Hawk Kites has teamed up with the Dare Arts Council to launch the Outer Banks ‘Sweep the Beach’ Trash Art Contest in celebration of Earth Day! Artists will create artwork from trash collected from local beaches and sounds. After submission, the artwork will be displayed along the TrART Walk at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing. Art pieces will be placed on or around March 30th and will be on view until April 21st. During this time, the public will vote, and the art will be judged in various prize categories. Select pieces will be moved to Jockey’s Ridge State Park for Earth Fair OBX, where winners will be announced at the Kitty Hawk Kites booth at 3:45 PM.

Our full summer event schedule is complete with the Town of Duck 4th of July Parade and Community Celebration! The annual one-mile parade route begins at the crest of the hill on Scarborough Lane, travels east towards the ocean, turns left onto Ocean Way, and then continues onto Christopher Drive to end at Pamela Court. Please note: no part of the parade will take place on Duck Road.

A Community Celebration will be held immediately following the parade at the Duck Town Park. The celebration will feature live music, cold refreshments, including watermelon provided by Green Acres Farm Market, and the awarding of the parade trophies.

The Currituck County Department of Travel & Tourism invites you to Historic Corolla Park for its annual Independence Day Celebration! Activities begin at 5:00pm, admission is free and free parking is available at the park until our lots are full. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase by local vendors. Please note that no coolers, alcohol or on-street parking are permitted in the park. The Historic Corolla Park boat ramp will be closed from 3pm on July 2nd until 12 noon on July 4th. The air up stations in Historic Corolla Park will be closed on July 3rd starting at 2 pm. No boat docking will be allowed. Only leashed dogs are permitted. However, due to the noise from the fireworks, dogs are not recommended at this event.

Parking:
Free onsite parking for this event will begin at 3:00pm at Historic Corolla Park and will be available on a first come, first served basis. With many visitors expected to attend, dedicated onsite parking spaces are expected to fill up early. Please plan accordingly.

Under the Oaks Arts Festival is a fine art show which offers a colorful array of vibrant artworks on the grounds of the postcard-perfect setting of the Whalehead in Historic Corolla. This popular festival brings together a collection of talented artists and visitors can expect to find paintings and prints, photography, pottery, jewelry, woodworks, and much more. Free for all attendees, local food concessions are available as well as a silent art auction that is open to the public. This is a great opportunity to pick up some local treasures that are truly one-of-a-kind.
