If you’re looking to do more than gobble down some delicious food this Thanksgiving, you’re in luck. The Outer Banks is packed with seasonal events to keep you and your family active and entertained. 5Ks, arts & craft fairs, and winter light displays will take place during Thanksgiving week to help get you in the holiday spirit. Bring the family out to these memory making events this November.
Off to the Races
If you’re looking to burn off some calories before your Thanksgiving feast, sign-up for one of the three races taking place on Thanksgiving morning. The Surfn’ Turkey 5k and Puppy Drum Run begins at 8:00 am on November 26th and takes route through Hatteras Village. Enjoy a hot breakfast and morning run through the historic fishing village.
For those staying on the northern beaches, the OBX Go Far Turkey Trot 5K and One Mile Fun Run kicks off at 8:00 am in Southern Shores and runs through the charming town of Duck. The winner will receive a yummy Thanksgiving pie to take home as well. A raffle, silent auction, restaurant giveaways, and breakfast are also in store for participants.
The Outer Banks Running Club Gobbler 5K and Fun Run’s course will take you on a pleasant trail through the Village at Nags Head. Enjoy scenic views of the Roanoke Sound on this course starting at 9:00 am.
Whether you plan to compete or cheer, you will help support local organizations and scholarship funds on the OBX. You won’t feel guilty about that second helping of pie either.
