The weather on the Outer Banks in September is spectacular. Although it’s home to hurricane season and if you visit during this time, we highly suggest purchasing trip insurance, September is one of the best months to visit! Early September is still reminiscent of summer with hot breezy days and warm inviting nights. The beaches are empty and the water is still pretty warm. September Recommendations From A Local

By visiting the Outer Banks in September, you'll avoid large crowds and have the beach to yourself!
Every day in September is like having your own private beach spot!

From an Outer Banks locals’ perspective; the number one thing to do in September on the Outer Banks is soak up the sun. Get out and go to the beach and spend as much time there as possible. With empty and spansive beaches, you’ll be able to truly relax. The number two must do? Get out and EAT. Try out some of the restaurants that are super busy in the summer and that have hours of wait time. Some of my personal favorites are Blue Moon, Mama Kwans, Miller’s, and Kill Devil Grill. All can have a seriously long wait time in the summer but really short during the fall!

Less crowds means more time to enjoy your favorite OBX restaurants
Less crowds, less wait times, more Miller’s mojito’s, please!
