Kids absolutely love the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island. This is one of the many family friendly activities we have on the Outer Banks!

It’s Budget Friendly

Vacationing with large families can be expensive, but visiting with a smaller group can be super budget friendly! By renting a smaller home, you’ll have more money in your budget to spend on some of the great local dining or even a few extra OBX souvenirs! Resort Realty features an array of smaller vacation homes for as low as $795 during peak season!*

Vacationing with smaller groups has it's perks, one being saving some money.

The Sound Is Shallow

Of course you want to come to the Outer Banks for the beach, but sometimes the water is too rough to enjoy and the thought of kiddos splashing in the waves on their own can be scary. Luckily, the Outer Banks is home to multiple sound accesses that are perfect for small families (and small kiddos and pups alike!) The sound water is brackish, which means a mix of salt and freshwater, and doesn’t produce strong waves like the ocean. The sound is also notoriously shallow, averaging out to being only 3 feet deep close to shore. While you still need to always keep an eye on your littles ones around any body of water, the public sound accesses of the Outer Banks are the perfect places to hangout with your family and your furry friends!

The sound is such a great place to take kiddos for a swim! The whole family will enjoy shallow, warmer waters and seclusion and privacy.

Restaurants are Kid Friendly

Just about every Outer Banks restaurant has options to please the pickiest eaters. Whether the little ones just like chicken tenders and fries or are adventurous and want to try popcorn shrimp, your dining options are endless on the OBX. We even have a blog on the top Kid Approved OBX Restaurants that you should try when you’re here!
