With Outer Banks seafoods like oysters being in season during the fall, attending a seafood festival is a MUST! Many great local restaurants attend events like the Outer Banks Seafood Festival along with live music! Fresh seafood, fun, and fall; what more could you want?


A bonfire is the perfect way to enjoy fall, especially on the Outer Banks! Beach bonfires are allowed on the southern beaches (Nags Head and Hatteras Island) by permit. The link here will give you all the information you need. Smores and a nice Fall beach breeze is the perfect way to spend time on the OBX. Just make sure you clean up the beach and thoroughly put the fire out when you’re done! Keep in mind, beach bonfires aren’t permitted on the northern beaches (From Kill Devil Hills to Corolla).


There’s nothing like picking out the perfect pumpkin for Fall! The Grandy Greenhouse just right over the Wright Memorial Bridge in Grandy features hayrides around the grounds! You can also pick out a pumpkin and watch apple cider be made from scratch. If you want to venture a little closer to the OBX, Island Farm in Manteo features a pumpkin patch!


Fall is the perfect time for sightseeing on the OBX! The weather is cool and pleasant which makes walking around historical sites and attractions that much better! Climb the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, learn more about settlers at Festival Park, or visit the Wright Brothers Memorial. Enjoy the beautiful weather and get outside this fall!
