Nags Head Woods is 1,092 acres of sand dunes, ponds, marshes, and wetlands. Hiking trails are open from dawn til dusk every day. Over 100 species of birds have been documented at Nags Head Woods in addition to 15 species of amphibians and 28 species of reptiles. The preserve offers a welcome natural reprieve from the busy coastal scene not only for wildlife, but also for human visitors as well.
