Resting high on the soundside, the Wright Brother’s National Memorial Park is a must-see while in Kill Devil Hills. Start you visit by learning about the forefathers of aviation and at the Visitors Center and then tour the reconstructed camp buildings to get a sense of what life was like for the brothers. Take a walk along the flight line to see the first successful take off and landing points and hike up to the monument and take in the history and bird’s eye view of Kill Devils Hills. A photo op is available nearby with sculptures that commemorate the first day of flight.

2. Avalon Fishing Pier
Located at milepost 6, the Avalon Fishing Pier is a great spot to catch blue fish, croakers, flounder, and more! Day passes for fishing are $12.00 for adults and $6.00 for kids 12 and under. Multiple day passes are also available for the avid fishermen in your group.
