With the month of May quickly coming to an end, we are so excited for all the events on the calendar for the month of June! With Summer approaching, it’s time to have some fun! Whether you’re visiting the OBX or are a local, check out all of the events that are happening this month on the Outer Banks.

May 31 // The Lost Colony Opening Night

Recurring Select Nights Throughout the Summer | Manteo

To kick off their 82nd Season, The Lost Colony, an Outdoor Theatre in Manteo, is opening May 31st! You might have learned about the Lost Colony in your History Classes throughout school, and it is an awesome opportunity to see history come to life. They have shows throughout May 31st – August 23rd, so be sure to check it out!


June 1 // Dare Day

9 AM – 6 PM | Downtown Manteo

Dare Day in Downtown Manteo is an event you won’t want to miss! Starting off at 9am, there will be plenty of fun stuff for the kids to do, while also offering close to 100 different food and craft vendors.


June 1 – June 7 // Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational

Recurring daily | Cape Hatteras

The Wind Voyager Triple-S Invitational is the world’s most prestigious professional kiteboarding contest that offers $70,000 in prize money. This contest has been happening yearly in Cape Hatteras since 2006. Also, they will be showing the movie “Send It” which was filmed onsite at the 2018 Triple-S, and features Kevin Quinn, Claudia Lee, and 2 Chainz.


June 2// OBX Food Truck Showdown

11:30 AM – 4:30 PM @ The Soundside Event Site | Nags Head

The OBX Food Truck Showdown is at the Soundside Event Site, from 11:30am-4:30pm. This event has food trucks, breweries and local performers and you are guaranteed to not leave hungry!


June 8 – June 9// OBX Tiny Home Festival

10 AM – 6 PM @ The Soundside Event Site | Nags Head

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a Tiny Home? This event will be at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head, and will feature over 20 Tiny Homes. There will also be guest speakers talking about life in a Tiny Home, entertainment, a beer garden and local food trucks. Tickets are $10 per day, or $15 for both days. Kids 12 and under are free.


June 13 – June 16// 4th Annual Soundside Fun Fair

5pm -11pm @ The Soundside Event Site | Nags Head

The Carnival is coming to town! Debatably the best event of summer, you definitely won’t want to miss it! There are plenty of rides, food, and games to try and win prizes at.


June 14 – June 16// Rogallo Kite Festival

10 AM – 4 PM Recurring Daily @ Jockey’s Ridge State Park | Nags Head

Kitty Hawk Kites will be displaying amazing 30-100 foot kites at Jockey’s Ridge State Park. You can sit back and admire the kites or bring your own kite fo fly. The event is free, and will be 10am-4pm daily.

June 19th // His Generation’s Summer Concert

7:00 PM @ Roanoke Island Festival Park | Manteo

Coming to the Outer Banks is Crowder and Colton Dixon, two of the top Christian artists! VIP tickets are $75 and inculdes early entry at 5:30PM, a Meet and Greet with Crowder and Colton Dixon, and up front reserved seating with chair! Priority tickets are $45 and include early entry and upfront seating. General admission is $25 and includes entry at 6:00 PM and general lawn seating. Children 2 and under are free. June 19th // Youth Fishing Tournament

7:30 AM – 1:00 PM @ Avalon, Nags Head, Jennette’s, or Outer Banks Pier

This free event will have your kids ready to cast out a line! From Avalon, Nags Head, Jennette’s, and Outer Banks Piers, take advantage of this fun fishing tournament. Registration is at the pier of your choosing starting at 7:30 AM. Each entrant will receive a tournament t-shirt and there is no fee. An awards ceremony will be held at 1:00 OM and hot dogs, chips, cookies, and drinks will be provided!


June 20th // 8th Annual Sunset 5K/1 Miler + Pig Pickin’

Join in on the sunset fun! The 8th Annual Sunset Spectacular 5K and 1 Miler will take place at Jennette’s Pier. This race is family and walker friendly and is chip timed. 5K Adult is $38, 5K Teen is $33, 5K 12 and under is $28, active duty/military is $35, 1 Miler is $28, and a spectator meal ticket is $15. The race fee includes event t-shirt, post-race party, chip timing, and medal. Catering will be provided by High Cotton BBQ. For more information, visit the OBX Running Company website.
